The heART of Speaking™

George Gilbert believes in giving back to the community. He created his heART of Speaking project to help others. After helping a loved one through waiting and receiving and recovering from a kidney/pancreas transplant, George made it his mission to speak whenever possible about the importance of organ and tissue donation. He speaks across the country on this subject.

George also works with United Way of Southern Nevada as a Program Specialist, Leadership Development Participant, and consultant. He has trained Loaned Executives, raised funds for the community, and helped create and run the Assistance to Military Families project. While running the Assistance to Military Families project, George was able to help families in their time of need. He helped prevent military Family members from being evicted from their homes while their loved one was defending our country. George also reunited a fiancée with her wounded soldier while he was in a military hospital, which resulted in their marriage.

George continues to assist the military and their families through the heArt of Speaking. For the past three years in conjunction with Super Summer Theatre and JACK 100.5 FM, George sponsored 1,200 military family members to dinner and a Broadway style show under the stars. Recently he was able to assist in arranging for two returning soldiers from Iraq who needed airfare so that they could be reunited with their families in another state.

Recently George was honored with the "Seven Seals Award" from the National Guard and the Department of Defense "for meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve."

Shortly After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, George was asked by United Way of Southern Nevada to help out at the Catholic Charities Fertida Center where they were processing evacuees from New Orleans through the Red Cross.

For the past five years, George has been speaking or bringing other speakers monthly to the Blind Center of Nevada. There he motivates, inspires, and educates the blind in various topics.
